We as your GP practice act as a Data Controller, which means we decide how and why your personal information is collected and used.
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, the practice has legal duties when handling your personal data.
Personal confidential data (PCD) includes information that can identify you, such as your name, address, date of birth, NHS number, medical records, test results, and treatment history.

- Collect and use only the information necessary for legitimate healthcare purposes.
- Keep your information secure and confidential.

In simpler terms, the statement is saying that we as your GP practice must handle your medical and personal information lawfully, securely, and in a way that you would reasonably expect, while informing you about how your information is used.
Patient Confidentiality
We respect your right to privacy and keep all your health information confidential and secure. It is important that the NHS keeps accurate and up-to-date records about your health and treatment so that those treating you can give you the best possible care.
This information may be used for management and audit purposes. However, it is usually only available to, and used by, those involved in your care. You have the right to know what information we hold about you. If you would like to see your records please contact the Practice Manager.
